Fair Lawn Soft Boarders
The Fair Lawn Board of Education (BOE) is considering the adoption of a “soft borders” policy change. In short, this policy would mean that Fair Lawn children who are enrolling in elementary school after July 1, 2017, and without an older sibling in their zoned elementary school would be vulnerable to reassignment by the superintendent to another elementary school if their zoned school is deemed overcrowded. To learn more about the proposed policy change as of February 23, 2017, see http://bit.ly/2lzifOQ.
A private group of citizens has created this website in their best effort to educate others about the proposed policy, to summarize concerns and questions about the proposal, to suggest alternatives to the “soft borders” approach in response to increasing enrollment in particular Fair Lawn elementary schools, and to provide ways for fellow residents to engage in dialogue around these issues.
